Bruin girls sweep Castle Rock in softball doubleheader

WHITE SALMON — Columbia High’s softball team entered its spring break with a two-game win streak after sweeping Castle Rock in a Trico League doubleheader March 26 in White Salmon by a combined score of 41-9.

The Bruins (5-3 overall, 4-1 Trico) sit in second place in the league standings behind Seton Catholic.

Gabby Hogue held the Rockets in check with eight innings in the pitching circle — five in the opener and three to close the second game replacing starter Danica Herman.

Offensively, first game highlights included Halle Kock’s 4-for-4 day, with a triple, home run and four runs scored. Julia Mullinix and Joella Posini each had four hits; Kiera Bucher and Herman added three apiece. Mckena Carlock had a hit and scored twice, and Madison Russum knocked in two runs.

In game two, Kock was 5-for-5, including four doubles. Mullinix doubled and homered during her five-RBI game. Fiona Grabb was 3-for-3, Posini was 2-for-2, and Herman, Carlock and Kate Blankenship also had hits.
